Transfer Deadline Day Preview – Aubameyang, Ramsey

After a relatively quiet January transfer window (aside from Newcastle), there are a few situations set to be resolved today.

Reports suggest that Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set for a loan deal to Barcelona until the end of the season.

His situation at Arsenal is sad. He was a genuine hero for them for a few years, and now his time is done. He won them the F.A Cup and was made captain. However, his disciplinary issues have seen him exiled by Mikel Arteta.

It leaves Arsenal short. Alexandre Lacazette has been playing well, but he does not have unlimited stamina. Arsenal only have the unconvincing Eddie Nketiah in reserve and they need goals to sustain a top 4 challenge.

Meanwhile, out of favor Welsh international midfielder Aaron Ramsey could plot a route out of Juventus today.

He has reportedly been offered on loan to Wolves in a last minute deal. He also had interest from Everton, Crystal Palace and Burnley.

Aaron Ramsey has only started one league game this season and will be eager to build up some rhythm ahead of vital world cup qualifiers.

Ramsey is still a fantastic player, but he has specific needs. He needs to be somewhere he is loved, and where they also have fantastic medical facilities.

At his best, he is talismanic but the concern is always about when he is going to break down next. This is the paradox of his career. He can be important enough to play all the time, but not fit enough to sustain it.

At Wolves, there is no particular pressure of achievement, meaning he could focus on getting into a good rhythm.
