West Ham United And David Moyes Are Here To Stay

West Ham United are third in the Premier League table. I repeat, West Ham United are third in the Premier League table.

They’re level on points with Man City, three points behind Chelsea in first place and one point ahead of Liverpool.

What’s more, it isn’t a fluke. David Moyes has done a brilliant job building on last season’s impressive showing.

The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Leicester and Spurs have been quietly waiting for West Ham to remember they’re West Ham and fall away, and leave the fourth and fifth positions for them to fight over.

The pulsating 3-2 win over Liverpool at the London Stadium on Sunday proved that it’s theirs to lose. To beat Liverpool, comprehensively too, is a testament to the team David Moyes has built.

This is the first time Hammers fans have felt connected to their team since they moved into the London Stadium. They missed out on all the positive moments from last season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

All the talk was that they were only playing so well because the fans were absent from the ground. Moyes even referred to this in his post match interview.

Now the fans have returned, the Hammers are going from strength to strength and Moyes is vindicated.

It’s taken him a while to recover from his ill-fated spell in charge at Old Trafford. There will be young football fans today who didn’t know he was more than a punchline.

It’s taken roles at Real Sociedad, Sunderland, West Ham and then a return to West Ham for him to get back to his best.

Older fans will remember his Everton team who punched above their weight to qualify for the Champions League. Nobody wanted to play them and his current team is exactly the same.

If they can beat Liverpool they can beat anyone. It’s a long season still to play, but the Hammers have an aura and momentum about them that could carry them to the Champions League.
