Jadon Sancho In Standoff With Borussia Dortmund

Speculation that Jadon Sancho will leave Borussia Dortmund has ramped up following their 3 – 1 loss to Barcelona.

The English teenager was benched for Dortmund’s vital Champions League clash in the Camp Nou.

Jadon Sancho came off the bench to score a consolation goal, leaving Dortmund coach Lucien Favre looking foolish.

It’s the latest in a string of incidents dating back to the summer that suggest Jadon Sancho is unsettled.

After the game, Sancho told the media in the mixed zone that he was “not allowed to speak”.

Lucien Favre told Sancho before the game that he would not start due to a lack of focus.

“I explained to him [why he wasn’t starting] before the game,” the former Nice manager said.

“I told him it was a really difficult game here in Barcelona, and we needed players that were really focused and that went on to the pitch really focused.”

The defeat to Barcelona leaves Dortmund third in Group F with one game to go. It’s safe to say that Favre’s decision backfired considering Sancho came on and was their most dangerous player.

Sancho’s stock is on the rise, while Favre’s is on the wane. While he is not quite in the managerial hot seat yet, he won’t be too far away with another few poor results.

As well as that, he is not a traditional Dortmund manager. His counter-attacking style befuddles stats people because of the way they allow shots and break away. Dortmund, a pressing side, may look elsewhere if Favre fails to qualify for the knockout stages in the Champions League.
