The second legs of the Champions League quarter finals take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, with four fascinating ties.
They are fascinating because the first legs didn’t disappoint. Arsenal drew 2 – 2 with Bayern at home, while Manchester City drew 3 – 3 with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
In Paris, Barcelona beat PSG 3 – 2 and Atletico Madrid triumphed 2 – 1 over Borussia Dortmund. A place in the semi finals is within touching distance for all of these teams.

After an exemplary 2024, Arsenal travel to Munich with somewhat dented confidence. The defensive vulnerability Bayern exposed in the first leg is uncharacteristic of them, and they followed it up with a disappointing 2 – 0 home loss to Aston Villa in the league over the weekend.
Bayern aren’t as confident as they could be either, so it’s a bit existential for both sides. In Arsenal’s first Champions League quarter final in fourteen years, away in Munich, it’s make or break.
City drew away at Real Madrid last season and annihilated them in the home leg. The current Champions League holders are more than capable of doing exactly the same thing again.
How this match goes will depend on Madrid and how well they play against City. It’s the heavyweight tie of the round, which means for everyone else, at least one of them won’t reach the final.

Barcelona are not the Barcelona of old but somehow they still.. Are? Their young team stunned PSG at the Parc des Princes for a 3 – 2 win in the first leg. This is Kylian Mbappe’s last chance to deliver the Champions League for PSG. If they lose it could even be his final appearance in the competition for PSG. However, unless he produces an inspired performance, PSG have a tough challenge to progress.
In Germany, expect Atletico Madrid to be too streetwise for Dortmund. Dortmund need to chase the game, and Atletico are coached by Diego Simeone. It’s the ideal position for Atletico Madrid to progress.
