The Anfield faithful were treated to another famous european night on Tuesday when Liverpool beat PSG 3 – 2.
The pulsating Champions League encounter saw Liverpool go 2 – 0 up and dominate early before a Paris resurgence setup a thrilling finish.
It was a match that lived up to the pre-game build up. It was Jurgen Klopp VS Thomas Tuchel. Salah, Firmino and Mane against Neymar, Cavani and Mbappe.
It was the Reds who made the better start, putting the PSG goal under pressure from the first minute. They took the lead on the 30th minute through Daniel Sturridge.
Sturridge’s time at Anfield has been blighted by injuries. He is unquestionably an incredible talent, but he looked to have been left behind in the Klopp revolution. So much so that his last start in the Champions League was for Chelsea against Napoli 6 years ago.
He offered a reminder of his qualities with the opening goal on Tuesday night. Andy Robertson crossed the ball in, and Sturridge fired a powerful header home to give his side the lead. 1 – 0.
Liverpool doubled their lead 6 minutes later when James Milner converted a penalty. With that lead, and Klopp’s men playing so well, it looked like there was no way back for PSG.

Paris were given hope in the 40th minute when fullback Thomas Meunier scored out of nothing. He converted a fantastic volley into the bottom corner to make it 2 – 1.
The second half was more tense than the first, and it looked as if Liverpool would close the game out. That was until the 83rd minute, when PSG equalised. Neymar drove at the heart of the Liverpool defense and the ball fell to Mbappe.
The young star smashed the ball home from 12 yards to set up an unlikely comeback. It just wasn’t going to be their night, though, and up stepped Roberto Firmino.
Cutting into the box on the right hand side, Firmino checked back in onto his right foot. He then unleashed a precise shot into the far corner for a stoppage time winner.
Anfield, as it has so often in the Champions League, erupted, and last year’s finalists proved they will be a force again this year.
Liverpool are now top of Champions League group C, as Napoli and Red Star Belgrade drew 0 – 0.
