Raheem Sterling is expected to complete his transfer to Chelsea on Wednesday after writing a goodbye letter to Manchester City.
Raheem Sterling is reportedly en route to Los Angeles to join Chelsea’s preseason tour of the U.S.
The figure being bandied about is $50 million, which mean Manchester City have recouped the fee they paid for him.
Raheem Sterling joined City from Liverpool in 2015 for a fee of $49 million. At the time, he was the most expensive English player in history.

“Seven seasons, 11 major trophies, a lifetime of memories,” wrote Sterling. “To the coaching staff who have played a massive role in my development over the years. To my teammates who have become more than just those I share a pitch with.
“To the backroom staff, to the office staff, to the fans who have tirelessly supported the team. And to everyone involved with Manchester City, my respect for you couldn’t be greater. What a ride it’s been.
“I am thankful for the ups and the downs as it’s the downs that have at times, tested my strength and resolve, and enabled me to stand here in front of you as the best possible version of myself.”

For City, Sterling scored 131 goals in all competitions. He will be remembered most fondly for the 2019 – 2020 season, in which he scored 31 of those goals. He virtually propelled City to the title that year and established himself as one of the finest attackers at club and international level.
