Thierry Henry and Monaco fell into the Ligue 1 relegation zone as Henry’s first game ended in a 2-1 defeat.
The loss away at Strasbourg was Thierry Henry’s first game as Monaco manager. His new side have now won just one in ten domestic games this season.
Having talked for years about wanting to be a manager, Thierry Henry finally has his chance. The Arsenal legend took a role as a Sky pundit after his retirement from the game. For a time, he was balancing his Sky duties while coaching in the Arsenal youth set up.
His contract with Sky was a barrier to his progression at Arsenal, and questions arose over his dedication to management. He then quit Sky and joined Roberto Martinez as assistant manager for the Belgium national team.
With Belgium, he gained vital coaching experience leading up to and during the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Thierry Henry was recently linked heavily with the Aston Villa job before taking over at Monaco, his former club.

However, goals from Adrien Thomasson and Lebo Mothiba put paid to an heroic Henry return. Despite having chances to score, Monaco were suspect at the back.
Strasbourg took a first half lead after Monaco keeper Seydou Sy failed to save a Thomasson header. In the second half, Monaco pressed until the 66th minute when they had a man sent off.
Samuel Grandsir was given a red card for a high tackle on Anthony Goncalves and from there, Strasbourg capitalized.
With 6 minutes to go, Strasbourg countered, and Mothiba chipped Sy for his sixth goal of the season. A last minute penalty goal from Youri Tielemans was the only consolation for Monaco. It was the first goal of Henry’s reign, but it was too little too late.
