Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Will Improve as a Manager – Rashford

It’s fair to say that opinion on Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has swung since he took over.

Initially, it looked as if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was an inspired choice to take over from the unpopular José Mourinho.

However, results levelled off, and expectations of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Man UTD crashed back down to earth.

Having started the season in a fashion which suggests they will once again struggle to make the top four, questions abound over whether he is the right man for UTD. ‘Ole’s at the wheel’ has gone from a jubilant rallying cry to a sardonic stick with which to bet UTD.

However, striker Marcus Rashford has said Solskjaer is the right man both now and moving forward. As well as that, he criticized José Mourinho after ample prodding from Gary Lineker.

Speaking to the BBC, Rashford said that ‘right now, everyone has confidence in the manager’.

“We might not be doing what he’s telling us to perfection yet. But what he’s telling us, his tactics, his training has been phenomenal.

“For me, it’s just a plan. It’s not a plan for just the next game or just this season. It’s a plan for years.  I think managers need to be backed. The last thing that we want or need is this rotation of managers because you never settle.”

“He’s very different (to José Mourinho) but that’s expected because he’s played. Off the pitch he understands the players a bit more. I don’t think it was a problem for him (that Mourinho wasn’t a player). Because he’s obviously a top manager and he has his way of reading people. For me, when a manager’s played, they’ve lived the lifestyle that we live and can be a bit more understanding. Ole will improve as a manager 100% but as a coach he’s already top notch.

You can see how the younger players have come up. There’s four or five players who are 17, 18 and from preseason you can see how much they’ve come on. They’re ready to start playing now.”
