Manchester City and Arsenal face off at the Etihad on Wednesday night in a top of the table clash.
Arsenal currently lead the Premier League on 75 points, 5 ahead of Manchester City. The crucial detail is that they’ve played two more games. If Manchester City win, they will seize control of the title race and make their triumph feel inevitable.
If Arsenal win, they will keep themselves alive and regain some momentum. The Gunners could have come into this game with an even bigger lead. However, they’ve drawn their last three games.

They’re still unbeaten in ten games since losing to City in February, but they’re not playing like that. Their three recent draws feature two blown two goal leads and a calamitous home game against Southampton in which they found themselves 2 – 0, then 3 – 1 down before clawing it back to 3 – 3 in the last ten minutes.
Arsenal appear to be faltering at exactly the wrong time. Manchester City, meanwhile, look unperturbed and set to make a very good go of winning the treble.
City won 3 – 1 in their last game although that game underlined the truth of this season: Arsenal are good. That win produced City’s lowest numbers in both possession and passes completed in the entirety of Pep Guardiola’s reign. City can’t be brilliant City against Arsenal, at least not for the entire game because Arsenal are brilliant too.

It’s youthful exuberance VS ruthless brilliance. City are a winning machine, while Arsenal are a little bit magic. The issue with that is with the amount of last minute winners and equalisers they’ve scored this season, Mikel Arteta’s team may be beginning to feel like they’ve used up their magic quota this season.
One thing is certain; these games rarely disappoint and Arsenal have earned the right to play it just as much as City. Win, and they keep the dream alive.
