Following Tuesday Champions League victories, both Liverpool and Manchester City prepare for their Premier League clash at the Etihad.
Liverpool earned a hard-fought 3 – 1 win away to Benfica with goals from Konaté, Mané and Días. Meanwhile City triumphed 1 – 0 over a dogged Atletico Madrid team at home.
While neither team are guaranteed a place in the next round, Liverpool probably have more breathing room. That is, as much as you can breathe with vital clashes against City to come in the league and the F.A Cup semi finals.

The Premier League title race could not be more finely balanced. Liverpool are just one point behind City who have held onto first place until now.
On Sunday, a win would see Liverpool go two points ahead of City. As well as that, their goal difference is superior by 5. Obviously, they would need to win their remaining seven games, but it would put them in the driving seat.
Then, in 6 days, they play their second leg against Benfica before going to Wembley for the F.A Cup semi final. It’s a huge period for the Reds and if they come through it, they will have a better chance at the quadruple than any other team in history.

For City and Guardiola, it’s about holding your nerve. The Blues are an unstoppable force most of the time. However, at pivotal moments towards the end of the season, Guardiola’s fatal flaw rears its head.
With so many crucial games in a row, Guardiola could indulge his tendency to overthink. Certainly, the two games against Liverpool in such quick succession could result in some novel tactical decisions.
Greatness is within grasp for both teams. Who is to prevail will be decided in the upcoming week.
