Frank Lampard Appointed Chelsea Manager

Frank Lampard has signed a three year contract to be the new Chelsea manager, following weeks of speculation.

Frank Lampard is a Chelsea legend, making 648 appearances for the team in center midfield. In that time, he won 11 major trophies including the Premier League and Champions League.

He moves to Stamford Bridge from Derby County, where he was manager for the 2018/2019 season. It was his first job in management, and he led Derby to the Championship Playoff Final.

Despite losing the final to Aston Villa, Frank Lampard has done enough to convince people of his coaching quality.

Lampard utilized young players at Derby, including Chelsea loanee Mason Mount. That will be attractive to Chelsea, who have been hit by a two-window transfer ban.

While Chelsea are appealing the ban, they will likely have to tap into all of the young talent they have. Lampard could be the ideal man to help young Chelsea players bridge a gap that isn’t often bridged at Chelsea.

“I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach,” said Lampard.

“Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared. However, my sole focus is on the job in hand and preparing for the season ahead.

“I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started.”

The 41 year old succeeds Maurizio Sarri, who left to take the Juventus job in June.
