FA Cup Final – Can Leicester Break The Curse?

Chelsea take on Leicester at Wembley in the 2021 FA Cup Final on Saturday in an intriguing encounter.

Chelsea are revitalized under Thomas Tuchel after seemingly drifting under Frank Lampard. Now, the blues are in the FA Cup Final as well as the Champions League Final.

They’re looking ominous, and they keep beating City. Nobody would want to play Chelsea in the FA Cup Final.

Leicester have had another solid season under Brendan Rodgers. They’re in the driving seat to secure champions league football, albeit with a tough run in. A trophy win would add legitimacy to this new Leicester under Brendan Rodgers.

Leicester have a piece of personal history to put to bed on Saturday. No team has played in the final more times than Leicester and not won. They have been to the final and lost four times in 1949, 1961, 1963 and 1969.

Conversely, Chelsea have been masters of the FA cup, and recently too. If they win on Saturday, it will be their 7th FA Cup win in the 21st century. They’ve won it five times since 2007, the last of which a victory over Manchester United in 2018.

Chelsea were also finalists last year, but lost out to Arsenal. The last time they won the final, they had lost to Arsenal in the previous year’s final.

With a cup win, or even a European and FA Cup double, Thomas Tuchel will be one of the most instantly successful coaches in Premier League history, another star on his already impressive C.V.

A win for Leicester would mark the full rehabilitation of Brendan Rodgers, who has been proving he still has what it takes with the Foxes.
