Concern Grows Over Kylian Mbappe Transfer

Premier League clubs are concerned about PSG and France star Kylian Mbappe’s potential move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

Not for the good of football, it should be pointed out. Rather, for the good of their bank balances.

Al-Hilal have had an offer of £259 million for Kylian Mbappe accepted by PSG. Even more absurd is the fact they’re offering to pay him over £3 million a week.

More absurd still is the fact that it could be a one year deal, allowing Kylian Mbappe to join Real Madrid the season after.

An ‘insider’ speaking to the Daily Mail confirmed that Premier League clubs are monitoring the situation. Specifically, they are bracing themselves for their stars to start demanding pay raises.

‘So far most of those who have gone to Saudi have been close to their final deal. But if Mbappe, one of the best players in the world, goes during his peak years, all bets are off.

‘It would not be a surprise if the top players pointed to him and said they would also go unless they could get the same money — or at least a massive rise — to stay.

‘The Premier League seem relaxed about it. But if we start to see a drain of the best talent, that attitude would quickly change the next time television rights are up for grabs.’

Kylian Mbappe is expected to reject the offer from Al-Hilal. In all likelihood, he will see out his PSG contract and receive a signing bonus from Madrid instead.

PSG have imposed a July 31 deadline on him to either sign an extension or be sold. However, Mbappe holds so much power, he can do what he likes. Whenever he moves, and for how much, he will be the next player to distort the transfer market.
