Can Arsenal Consolidate Their Stellar Work Next Week?

Arsenal will not go under the radar for much longer when it comes to the race to qualify for the Champions League.

With Sunday’s 3 – 2 win over Watford, Arsenal moved into 4th with games in hand over all their rivals. They’ve won eight of their last ten in the Premier League, including four in a row as of Sunday.

Still, nobody is talking about Arsenal as candidates, let alone favourites for the fourth position. This might be because points on the board are better than games in hand. Especially when you consider that Arsenal’s three games in hand feature clashes with Chelsea and Tottenham.

The Gunners still have a lot to prove, even to their own fans who are reluctantly starting to believe in them. Arteta’s men have done fantastically well to position themselves for a top four finish after starting the season with three losses in a row.

However, they need to produce in the vital moments, which begin on Sunday, March 13. In the space of six days, they will face Leicester, Liverpool and Aston Villa away. That’s a nasty run of fixtures that could leave them in 6th if results don’t go their way.

It’s so competitive in those positions that Arsenal could feasibly finish 3rd or 7th. As well as that, it’s going to be that uncertain until the final games of the season.

After the international break, they face Manchester United on April 23, which will be a vital game. The broadcasters are likely to have a nice surprise for them around this time, too.

The postponed North London Derby could have been rescheduled by now. Especially now that both teams are out of all cup competitions, they both have the middle of the week free all the time. It hasn’t been rescheduled, though, because Sky will want their climactic North London derby towards the end of the season.

Arsenal will have to keep up their current form and dispatch their rivals in the crucial moments. The quotes coming out of Arsenal suggest there is something genuinely special going on in that dressing room. We are about to see just how special it is.
