Belgium showed their class in a 2 – 1 victory over Denmark in Copenhagen in their second game of Euro 2020.
It’s the first game Denmark have played since Christian Eriksen collapsed with a cardiac arrest against Finland on Saturday.
The Danish players were clearly up for the game, and scored after just 2 minutes through Yusef Poulsen.
Denmark dominated the first half, and could have had three or four goals with a bit more precision. Belgium struggled to get going, and it looked as if the occasion might determine the result.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin DeBruyne had been on the bench so far due to a face injury. Manager Roberto Martinez clearly took Denmark seriously, because he brought DeBruyne on at halftime.
The decision paid off. On 54 minutes, Belgium equalised. DeBruyne faked a shot in the box, only to roll it to Thorgan Hazard for a tap-in. It was a moment of real quality in Belgium’s first meaningful attack of the game.
From there, Denmark found it difficult and Martinez brought on the cavalry. Axel Witzel and Eden Hazard were introduced as they probed for a winner.

That winner came on 70 minutes, with DeBruyne the scorer this time. Lukaku, Tielamans and Hazard combined beautifully to release DeBruyne on the edge of the box.
DeBruyne’s left footed finish right into the near corner was genuinely stunning. Denmark huffed and puffed for the rest of the game. Martin Braithwaite hit the bar with a header on 84 minutes. With a bit more luck, they might have equalised, but Belgium’s quality eventually won out.
With that result, Belgium have all but qualified for the next round while Denmark are unfortunately all but out.
