Andy Robertson: Liverpool Not Thinking About Records

Liverpool fullback Andy Robertson has said his title-bound team aren’t concerning themselves with breaking records just yet.

Liverpool currently sit on the top of the table, 19 points clear of Manchester City in second. They have an outstanding record of 23 wins, 1 draw and 0 defeats as they march to the title.

If they keep it up, they could win the Premier League without losing a game. Only Arsenal have done that in the Premier League, back in 2004. Arsenal’s total undefeated record is 49 games, something which is in sight for Liverpool as well.

“If the records come this season then so be it,” said Andy Robertson.

“We just want to win the next game and if we continue to work like that then we might start ticking the games down but all we want is the best we can be and try to win the league.”

Andy Robertson also defended Jurgen Klopp’s decision to send a shadow side to play Shrewsbury in their FA Cup 4th round replay.

Klopp has been labelled ‘selfish’ and ‘a disgrace’ for his desire to maintain Liverpool’s winter break. Robertson says that he and the rest of the Liverpool players are behind their manager.

“The manager is our leader. He’s the one that makes our decisions. We stand by every decision he makes whether it’s team selections or days off.

“He’s been very clear what he wants and we stand by him so that’s the players’ perspective.”

“I think he’s earned the right to make these decisions because he’s been phenomenal for all of us, so long may that continue.

“He’s made the best decision for the club and we all stand by that.”
