Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is confident that his team will stay in the Premier League this season.
Speaking last week before the Manchester United Game, Rafael Benitez was optimistic following a meeting with owner Mike Ashley.
“I am convinced, 100%, that we will stay in the Premier League this season,” he said.
The pair met for dinner and the conversation was positive, according to Rafael Benitez.

“It was a pleasant dinner; everything that was said will stay between us but I think it’s positive,” said Benítez.
“I think some good can come out of it, I can’t see any negatives. I think it was his idea to support the team and the manager. Everyone was relaxed and the mood was very good.”
Benitez was also optimistic about new signings, despite the drawbacks of the January market.
“I hope so,” he said. “He knows my ideas and if we talk and he sees the games it will be easier for everyone to understand.
“I’m very realistic, I know January is a difficult window but, at the same time, Newcastle is a nice city, it’s a good place with fantastic fans and it’s an opportunity for players to come to the Premier League. I’m quite optimistic but, at the same time, realistic. Maybe we can fix things and improve. We will see if we can go in the right direction.”
Newcastle have had a gruelling start to the 2018/2019 Premier League season. So far they’ve faced Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United.
Despite giving a good account of themselves in last weekend’s 3 – 2 thriller against Jose Mourinho’s men, they remain on just two points and without a win.
Currently, Newcastle are 2/5 to avoid relegation with Paddy Power. The same bookie has them at 8/1 to finish bottom of the league.
