Where Will Paul Pogba End Up? Betting Review

The Paul Pogba transfer looks set to be a saga that contains all summer, or at least until it’s resolved.

Speculation is rife after Paul Pogba told reporters that he was considering ‘a new challenge somewhere else’.

Speaking at a promotional visit in Tokyo, Paul Pogba admitted that he’s been considering his current situation.

“There is a lot of thinking [going on],” Pogba said.

“I have been three years in Manchester and have been doing great – some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody, like everywhere else.

“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season, as well . . . I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else. I am thinking of this: to have a new challenge somewhere else.”

The question is, where will that new challenge be? Pogba is not as easy to relocate as it would seem. Similar to players like Ozil, the likes of Pogba are limited in their potential destinations. Their wage packet, combined with the need to be the main man in the team, leaves only the elite clubs.

Real Madrid are the favorites to sign Pogba at 6/4, and this move would make some sense. A Zidane-Pogba combination in Madrid is mouthwatering for all sorts of reasons.

However, it may not be the wisest move for Madrid. Pogba is the kind of player who you can drop in to an already complete team, and he will be brilliant. Real Madrid are still rebuilding after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Pogba is not a player who you can build a team around. If he was, he would have been more successful at Manchester United, where they tried to build the team around him.

Juventus are the second favorites to sign him ay 7/2, but this doesn’t make much sense either. Going from UTD to Juventus and back again would be a strange story, even for modern football.

Juventus already have great midfielders in Bentancur, Pjancic and new arrival Aaron Ramsey. As well as that, there’s hardly room for another superstar ego with Cristiano Ronaldo there.

Having said that, Juventus did just appoint Maurizio Sarri as their manager, so perhaps they will decide to sign Pogba as well. If something out of the ordinary is going to happen, it will be now, in the aftermath of Max Allegri’s departure.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have said that they expect Pogba to start the new season with them. Time will tell.
