Manchester United face a battle against history to progress to the Champions League quarter finals on Wednesday night.
No team has ever qualified after losing a home leg by two goals in the knockout rounds. That’s exactly what Manchester United will have to do against Paris Saint Germain at the Parc des Princes tonight
The injury-hit reds will face one of the finest squads in the competition in PSG. Paris, of course, remain the only team to beat Manchester United under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Their 2 – 0 win over UTD at Old Trafford gives them a huge advantage. However, Solskjaer was positive as always about the match, and said he believes his team can do it.

It’s a difficult task but we can do it,” he said.
“Obviously we need the first goal, and we need to stay in the game until … if there’s half an hour left and there’s still only one goal in it then anything can happen. But we need a good plan. It needs to be put in place and we need to perform on the night because they are a team full of quality.
“Also as a club, we’ve done it so many times. The players have been fantastic away from home. We’ve beaten Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham which has given us belief that we can do this as well.
“It’s never mission impossible.”
Former Manchester United manager David Moyes was much less optimistic. He described it as a ‘hard task’, and named PSG as the favourites to win the Champions League.
I think it’s a really hard task for them. I think the first leg showed the quality of PSG,” said Moyes.

“I think it was more their quality than what Manchester United are at this present time. I think Manchester United will go with no fear and attack the game the way they have done. But I think the quality that PSG are showing at this moment in time, for me, could just about make them favourites to win the tournament.
“So I think really, in truth, it’s a hard task for Manchester United.”
