It’s hard not to imagine City winning the title. However, they will have to win it on the last day of the season after Arsenal won at Old Trafford.
Manchester City kicked off the penultimate weekend of the title race with a 4 – 0 win away at Fulham. It was another win by another big scoreline, reducing Arsenal’s goal difference advantage to two.
That set up a must-win clash for Arsenal on Sunday at Old Trafford, where they had only won once in fourteen attempts.

City’s challengers were not spectacular at Old Trafford.. Or even very good. Leondro Trossard’s first half goal was enough to secure three huge points, though. It means that if they beat Everton on the final day, and City don’t beat West Ham, Arsenal will be champions.
There’s the small matter of City’s game in hand to contend with first, however. It takes place on Tuesday night against none other than Arsenal’s North London Rivals, Tottenham.
Tottenham’s awful recent form does nothing to suggest they can do their neighbours a favour. Arsenal, impressive as they have been, are hoping for a miracle.
To make matters more complicated, Spurs may or may not even have anything to play for by Tuesday. If Aston Villa beat Liverpool on Monday, Tottenham won’t be able to finish 4th. It doesn’t look good for Mikel Arteta’s team.

There is another, much more enjoyably trepidatious scenario. If City draw with Spurs, they’ll be level on points with Arsenal if they both win their final game. The Premier League title could come down to goal difference, or even goals scored.
After so many questions over their quality, the Gunners have pushed City all the way. They might not win next week, but they’re here to stay.
