Thomas Tuchel is set to take over at Stamford Bridge after club legend Frank Lampard was let go by Chelsea.
Reports on Monday morning confirmed Lamapard’s dismissal after 18 months in charge and persistent doubts about him.
Frank Lamard was fast tracked into the Chelsea job after a year as Derby manager. Despite failing to get Derby promoted, he was thought of as a good fit.
He had midfielder Mason Mount on loan at Derby, and it was thought Lamard could develop Chelsea’s other young players amidst their transfer ban.

Lampard had a solid first season, reaching the F.A Cup final and securing Champions League qualification. However, after spending £200 million on players over the summer, Chelsea languish in 9th place.
“This was a very difficult decision for the club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him,” Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich said in a statement.
“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.
“On behalf of everyone at the club, the board and personally, I would like to thank Frank for his work as head coach and wish him every success in the future. He is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge.”

Ex Dortmund and PSG manager Thomas Tuchel is reportedly the only candidate to replace Lampard. The club hope to have Thomas Tuchel in place in time for the game against Wolves on Wednesday.
With expensive German stars Timo Werner and Kai Havertz underperforming, Chelsea will hope Tuchel can turn their fortunes around.
