When you lose 9-0, the idea of damage limitation probably feels a bit futile. Even so, Bournemouth manager Scott Parker might have made an effort.
Scott Parker described his players as ‘struggling for air’ after Liverpool beat them 9-0 at Anfield. It equals the largest-ever Premier League winning margin, and Scott Parker said it was the most painful moment of his career so far.
As Southampton have shown, it is possible to bounce back from such a devastating humiliation. However, that needs to start immediately after the game. Parker’s pessimism will have done nothing to encourage either the players or the fans.

“I can see some more (heavy defeats), to be honest with you.
“We need to make a decision. That’s just where it is. I think I’ve been clear on that from the minute I stepped in.
“I’ve been clear throughout all of that in terms of how this season could look for us, these experiences what we’re going to face, what they may look (like) and I stick by that. And that is exactly what it will look like.
“We need to make a decision and try and help this group, this young group, who at times are struggling for air.
I feel sorry for the fans, I feel sorry for the players because we are just a bit underequipped at this level from where we’ve come from and what we have. It has been difficult.
“It [the result] doesn’t shine a light on it [what’s going wrong] for me because throughout the summer that’s exactly where I’ve seen it. There are players playing in this team with huge quality but this is the first time they are experiencing Premier League and we are where we are.”

“Of course, I never would have thought we would come here and get beaten 9-0 but I expected and saw things I knew this season would be a real challenge for us in certain moments, in certain games.
“This is the toughest day as a player and certainly as a coach, this is the most painful day that I have experienced.”
