After Wednesday night, words like ‘destiny’ and ‘fate’ are being thrown around in relation to Real Madrid, and rightly so.
Real Madrid pulled off yet another iconic Champions League comeback to reach the final with a 3 -1 (6 – 5) win over Manchester City.
When seemingly any other team would be defeated, Real Madrid keep finding a way. When another team’s luck would have run out, Madrid’s kicks into overdrive.
It’s impossible to deny that their history in the competition is a factor here. As well as that, Pep Guardiola’s and Manchester City’s history in Europe played a part.

If Madrid were going to complete another comeback, the team who keeps failing in the Champions League were the perfect opponents to do it against.
Pep Guardiola has now been eliminated in the semi finals six times, the joint most for any manager alongside Jose Mourinho.
“I have had defeats in the Champions League, I had tough defeats at Barcelona when we could not reach the final,” he said.
“But it is tough for us, I cannot deny that. We were so close to the Champions League final.
“It happened, they scored a goal at the end. They have done it many times in their history, they put a lot of players in the box, like Militao and the strikers, and yeah, they found the goal.”

Contrastingly, Carolo Ancelotti will coach his 5th Champions League final, the most of any manager.
“I cannot say we are used to living this kind of life, but what happened tonight happened against Chelsea and also against Paris.
“If you have to say why, it is the history of this club that helps us to keep going when it seems that we are gone.
“I am happy to be in the final, in Paris against another great team. It will be a fantastic game for football.”
