Arsenal and Tottenham played out a pulsating 2 – 2 draw in Sunday’s North London Derby at the Emirates stadium.
It was the latest addition to the growing repertoire of fantastically entertaining games in the North London Derby.
Arsenal began the game brightly, having started Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pepe up front for the first time. Arsenal fans had been desperate to see this, but they failed to capitalise on their early dominance.
The Gunners gifted Spurs a 2 – 0 lead. They were caught out from a goal kick on 10 minutes and Christian Eriksen tapped home from close range. Then in the 40th minute, Granit Xhaka brought down Harry Kane in the box.
Kane inevitably scored his tenth North London Derby goal from the spot to put Spurs two goals ahead.

Alexandre Lacazette pulled one back for Arsenal just before the break. Twisting and wriggling in the box, he finished emphatically with his left foot.
The second half was all Arsenal as they pressed for an equaliser and they got it in the 71st minute. An outstanding Guendouzi pass over the top found Aubameyang in the box, and the striker finished it first time.
After that, the game became a frenetic, end to end affair. Arsenal had a third goal ruled out for offside, and both teams had good chances to score again. The game ended in a draw but was no less exciting for it.

The North London Derby guarantees goals, with 5 – 2 and 4 – 2 scorelines a regular occurrence in this fixture. The last time Arsenal and Tottenham played out a 0 – 0 draw was in February 2009.
Where it has come on in the last few years is the level of intensity. These teams really want to beat each other, which results in one of the most intense Premier League fixtures of the year.
The most exciting game used to be Liverpool against Manchester City. However, now that both those teams are terminator-esque champions, games between the two are tight affairs.
In terms of excitement, we won’t see the like of this game again until Arsenal and Spurs meet again on the 25th of April. By that time, it could be a decisive fixture in the race to finish in the top four.
As it stands, the bookies favour Spurs to finish in the top four at 2/5 over Arsenal, who are at evens.
