Mikel Arteta, as he did in May 2018, looks set to be appointed the new Arsenal head coach.
Mikel Arteta came close to taking over from Arsene Wenger when the Frenchman stepped down. However, Arsenal appointed Unai Emery at the last minute.
After 18 months, Unai Emery was sacked by the club and Mikel Arteta is once again in the frame.
Arteta is an incredibly appealing option for Gunners fans, although it’s not exactly clear why. He is inexperienced, having never been a manager before.
As well as that, he doesn’t exactly fit into the mould of ‘club legend’ either. What Arsenal will get should Arteta get the job is the Manchester City assistant coach for the past three years.

Apart from his tutelage from Guardiola, you have to go back to 2016 to see what Arteta thinks Arsenal should be doing.
In his final programme notes before leaving the club, Arteta said that winning the F.A cup is not enough for a club like Arsenal.
“I would just like to thank you all so much for the way in which you’ve supported me during my time here,” he wrote.
“It’s been a huge honour, a privilege, and I can only promise that I’ve done my best.
“I tried to behave in the most professional way and maximise the resources we have. I’m at peace with that. Our ambition this season was to win the Premier League and we’re so disappointed that we came short with that aim, because it’s not good enough for this club.
“But I’ll always be proud that I was able to help give the fans some trophies, which they had been waiting for a long time for.”
“Winning two FA Cups in a row was special but for me, it’s not enough for a club like this. It shouldn’t be the ambition.”

“Hopefully the new generation will be better than us and will become fantastic leaders and heroes here.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute. For me it was a dream to come here because I always admired this club.”
