England against Germany on Tuesday might well turn out to be one of the highlight games of Euro 2020.
As well as that, the team who advances has a clear shot at reaching the final. After Holland were eliminated by the Czech Republic on Sunday, this side of the draw has opened up favourably.
Germany or England will go on to face either Sweden or Ukraine in the quarter finals of Euro 2020. Whoever wins the quarter final will face either Denmark or the Czech Republic, who England have already beaten.
In the final, one of Italy, Belgium, France or Spain await. The semi finals on this side of the draw will likely be fought between France and Belgium.

It’s hard to ascertain how good England really were in the group stages. It’s likely something that will be determined retrospectively.
If England go deep in the tournament, it will look as though they navigated the group stages solidly, sensibly and professionally.
If they get knocked out by Germany, particularly with an insipid performance, questions will be asked about Gareth Southgate’s ambition, especially with the attacking talent he has.
As well as that, England will face a different challenge if they progress against Germany. Beating one of the better teams is no guarantee they will then make light work of the worse teams.

Ukraine, Sweden, Denmark and the Czech Republic will be stubborn and difficult to break down. Denmark could be especially dangerous, as the team is riding on the crest of a sentimental wave after Christian Eriksen’s heart attack.
However, England has been here before. The draw in Russia in 2018 was also favourable for them and they reached the semi finals. They ought to be able to use their experience and do better than that this time around.
