The top of the table clash of Arsenal VS Manchester City on Wednesday night could not be more deliciously poised.
Arsenal’s electrifying, momentous season so far saw them eight points clear at the top of the table just weeks ago. However, you can’t afford even a minor blip when you competition is Manchester City.
Arsenal have suffered that minor blip with defeat against Everton and a draw against Brentford. As it stands, City would go ahead of them on goal difference with a win at the Emirates.

Arsenal still have a game in hand, but the symbolism could be more dangerous than the mathematics here. Everyone, probably including the Gunners themselves to some extent, would see defeat as the onset of their falling away.
Win, however, and they will instantly regain their momentum and believe they can win the league.
For the first time in years, it’s difficult to call this fixture. The gunners haven’t been so good for almost 20 years. Manchester City haven’t been as vulnerable as they are now, barring perhaps Guardiola’s first season. This, combined with Arsenal’s unexpected brilliance is why there’s even a title race to talk about.
This is not 100 points, 100 goals, record breakers, history makers Manchester City. It is probably 90 points, 90 goals, still incredibly good but not perfect Manchester City.
It’s a small gap, one Mikel Arteta’s team has been hurtling towards for the first half of the season. They can’t squeeze through it, though, without beating City at least once. At a rejuvenated Emirates, they will never have a better chance.
