Newcastle won a vital Premier League relegation six-pointer against Everton at St. James’ Park on Wednesday.
With the win, Newcastle climbed out of the bottom three and drew Everton closer towards jeopardy.

Kieran Trippier played a vital role for Newcastle with an assist from a corner and an outstanding free kick to put the game out of sight.

It marked the first occasion Newcastle have won back to back games this season. Given the transfer window has just ended, we have some clarity on what players teams will have at their disposal.
After a busy window, Eddie Howe’s team should have enough quality compared to those around them to stay up. It all depends on whether this new project with Howe and all the new players will work.

“We’ve seen in the last few weeks that he’s got better and better since I’ve been here. I’m delighted with his performance today, he’s a real threat and he’s someone I’d hate to play against personally because you just can’t predict what he’s going to do.
“But he’s a match winner and we’re going to need him at this level for the rest of the season.”
Just 5 points separate Everton in 16th and Burnley in 20th. It’s going to take a remarkable turnaround from Frank Lampard to arrest their current slide and save them from the drop.
